This illustration was created to express cultural sentiments through digital art. The artwork depicts an African woman with naturally curly hair surrounded by African themed colours. The piece was dedicated to woman of African heritage in hopes of creating a sense of pride and acknowledgment. Simple colours, clarity, and African colour themes were used to create harmony and balance. The project was made using hand-drawn drafts converted into digital art by means of Adobe Photoshop and a Wacom drawing tablet. It can be hard to maintain your original idea when bringing a hand-drawn concept into photoshop. By keeping the pencil sketch as a layer underneath the digital art, reference can always be taken from the original.
