Canadian Chief was created to influence a sense of pride for culture. The artwork depicts a First-Nations man with traditional Canadian Aboriginal attire. The goal of this piece was to represent the beauty of cultural history in society. Cold colours, sharp textures, and careful positioning help to give the illustration a triumphant, striking aura. The project was made using hand-drawn drafts converted into digital art by means of Adobe Photoshop and a Wacom Intuous Tablet. There is a great challenge when creating a fictional character because you risk misrepresenting a culture if the proper research is not collected first. Careful research from the Black-Foot tribe was collected and used as inspiration to ensure accuracy in the depiction of this character.
