Advanced Character Facial Rig and Animation Excercise
Characters Vibin' is a series of stylized character animations created as a creative challenge to push the capabilities of 2D character animation in Adobe After Effects using the Joysticks 'n Sliders rigging system. Each short features an original character vibing to a custom-selected music track that complements their personality and design.
The project focuses on developing advanced facial rigs that create a pseudo-3D appearance, enabling expressive performances, nuanced emotion, and a wide range of fluid facial movement. All characters and assets were illustrated by David Kativu in Adobe Illustrator and rigged and animated in Adobe After Effects. The series was published on Instagram.
